While I was cleaning up in the kitchen, my wife came in and said that it was really going off outside. I had read that it was supposed to develop south of the cities, but I was caught off guard to see brilliant lightning just northeast of my neighborhood. There was no time to drive to a better location, so I opted to just shoot photos from an open space near my home. This photo was from earlier in the session and it had continued to build while I was out there. I, however, made a complete beginner mistake and didn’t place my umbrella correctly. This resulted in hundreds of photos with covered in rain drops on my lens element. We fail, we learn, we get better. . . Right?
